Twenty years later, he’s still fighting, but his progress from the social clubs of South Wales to the world stage hasn’t been easy, and he’s had to deal with loss and an attraction to drink and drugs along the way.

However, now Selby is back on track, and he’s allowed a film crew to follow him as he prepares for what could be the defining bout of his life, and a shot at becoming the featherweight champion of the world.

How to Get a Council House (C4, 9pm)

It’s been estimated that a quarter of a million people in Britain are homeless, and a rise in evictions by private landlords and government plans to extend right-to-buy schemes are predicted to put even more pressure on social housing.

This series examines the problems by following the work of council officers in the country’s most densely populated city, Portsmouth.

Among those seeking accommodation are former naval engineer Gordon, but as a single male, he’s classed as a low priority.

By law, the housing officers are also forced to turn away anyone who has made themselves intentionally homeless, but does this apply to young couple Luke and Lauren?

Luke believes their predicament is partly down to the supposed preferential treatment given to immigrants, while Romanian Vasile believes his nationality is preventing him from getting a council house.

Last in the series.

My Mad Fat Diary (E4, 10pm)

It’s been a short, bittersweet farewell from this excellent drama as the third and final series come to an end after just three episodes.

It’s beginning to look like Rae might not have made as much progress as we hoped as she finds herself back in the same hospital where it all began – and some brutal home truths from Katie Springer (Faye Marsay) don’t do much to help.

Can Rae find her inner-strength in time to sit her A-levels? Let’s hope so, because this is one character who really deserves a happy ending.

The film maps how Armstrong’s cheating and bullying became more extreme and how a few brave souls fought back, until eventually their voices were heard.
