Mirren turns down free plastic surgery
Helen Mirren refused to accept free plastic surgery and Botox injections ahead of the Academy Awards in Los Angeles.
The 61-year-old, winner of Best Actress for her performance as British monarch Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen, received a free pre-Oscars goodie bag containing vouchers for free facial treatments.
But Mirren preferred to attend the event covering her wrinkles with the aid of make-up alone.
She said: "I'm very vain, which initially made playing Elizabeth Windsor in all those tweeds pretty daunting.
"But I'm not fond of all those needles and scalpels. I'll try to get away with make-up, jewellery and a nice frock."
