Michael Fassbender snaps up Cork City property

The Irish Examiner reports today that Michael Fassbender has purchased a prominent building on Cork City's South Mall.

The top German-born actor paid over €1.4m for the office building through Allsops property auctioneers.

It is understood his father Josef was the sole bidder of 57/59 South Mall, which holds a rent-roll of €164,000.

Though raised in Kerry, Michael has strong Cork roots, as his mother is the great-grand-niece of Irish Independence leader Michael Collins.

The actor joins Roy Keane as recent celeb buyers on South Mall. In 2011 Keano bought No 44 for €450,000.
