Meet the Haul Girls

Welcome to the web's most honest shopping reviews.
Meet the Haul Girls

Forget your Rihannas and Gagas - these are the girls taking the internet by storm.

Ever get that feeling after a shopping spree of dying to show off your bargains to a willing audience? Well, you're not alone, and the internet welcomes you.

Introducing “Haul videos” …

Haul videos are simply videos of girls - and the occasional guy - showing off their purchases for the whole wide world to see.

The phenomenon, which is all about street fashion and not your high end stuff, has been sweeping the interweb since 2010 and now has taken Ireland by storm - which means we can now see the best hauls from Penneys and Dunnes.

YouTube is home to tens of thousands of haul videos, and some are racking up tens of millions of views.

These videos also act as short product review. The "vlogger," or video blogger, shows off their goods, gushing about everything from lip gloss to flip-flops and gives their honest opinion.

While haul videos are making one girl's shopping treasure into another's online entertainment, they're also transforming these savvy shoppers into young tycoons. Some videos are being viewed millions of times, and the vloggers are cashing in -- scoring sponsorships, product deals and magazine spreads.

And the beauty is (pardon the pun), that anyone can do it!

Here are our five top tips on becoming the Internet’s newest ‘Haul Girl’:

1. BUY YOURSELF A CAMERA

It doesn’t have to be a top of the range canon D50 - some of the best content comes from the comfort of your smartphone.

2. SHOP TILL YOU DROP

Need we say anymore ….

3. SET UP A YOUTUBE CHANNEL

A catchy username is key! So get your thinking hats on.

And please don’t make this mistake …

4. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Be creative and unique! Attempt the un-attempted!

Use your new products in a blindfold make-up challenge? Why not?

5. BE YOURSELF

Like your Mammy has also told you “honestly is the best policy”.

If your Lush bath bomb smells like ‘fairy children’ say it does.

Or take these tips from the professionals!

Happy Hauling!
