Matt Smith has been cast to appear in 'Pride and Prejudice and Zombies'.
The former 'Doctor Who' star is the latest big name to be added to the eagerly-away movie, which is an adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's book that parodies Jane Austen's novel 'Pride and Prejudice'.
Among those set to appear alongside Smith in the film is 'Downton Abbey' star Lily James, who will play the role of Elizabeth Bennet, who would rather defend the countryside against zombies than settle for a life of tranquillity.
In the film, Smith will play the role of a parson who proposes marriage to Elizabeth, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film will also feature the likes of Douglas Booth, Jack Huston - who has just been cast in the 'Ben Hur' remake - and Sam Riley.
Production on the film is set to start on September 24, with the release date scheduled for 2015.
Meanwhile, Smith said earlier this year that he will return to 'Doctor Who'.
The actor bowed out of his role as the titular Time Lord in last year's Christmas special, but he can't wait for the next special anniversary episode so he can reprise the part.
Speaking at this year's Calgary Expo fan convention, he reportedly said: "I'm just waiting for the next anniversary. I spoke to Steven [Moffat, executive producer] the other day and said, 'What's the quickest one we can do?' "
