Lohan's folks to meet
Michael and Dina Lohan are to meet for the first time in 15 years.
The parents of troubled actress Lindsay Lohan – who finalised their divorce in 2007 – have agreed to put their differences behind them for the sake of their daughter, who is currently in rehab following her release from jail earlier in the month.
Michael – who has three other children, Michael Jr, 23, Ali, 16, and 14-year-old Cody with Dina - told Hollyscoop: “I have been told that Dina is willing to meet to discuss our situation with Lindsay.
“If she means it, I thank God for this breakthrough which has been a long time coming. It can and will make a huge and positive difference in Lindsay's life.”
Meanwhile, Michael – who has previously insisted his daughter is addicted to prescription drugs – has reversed his opinion about the actress’ expected early release from rehab because he doesn’t believe the UCLA Medical Center can adequately treat her.
He told X17 Online: "I agree with her lawyer, Shawn Holley, the doctors and - I can't believe I am saying this - even Dina, that Lindsay should be released from UCLA's drug programme.
“The reasons being, UCLA's programme does not offer the treatments Lindsay needed or needs.
"What Judge Revel did, was basically sentence Lindsay to more jail time because UCLA's programme is like any medical unit in any jail or prison. Sure, they might have gotten her off the prescription drugs, but they haven't offered any therapy, which is imperative in successful recovery."
Lindsay was sentenced to 90 days in prison followed by a 90-day sting in rehab for breaching the terms of probation set for her 2007 driving under the influence conviction.
However, she spent just 13 days in jail and doctors have recommended she be released from rehab after 30 days at most.
