Now we've got that summer time sadness …

Lana Del Rey cancels all European gigs due to sickness

Lana Del Rey has cancelled all of her European performance and promotional commitments due to illness.

The 'Summertime Sadness' hitmaker had been due to appear at two private concert engagements for Virgin Radio listeners in Paris, in addition to attending Radio 1's Live Lounge.

However, illness has forced her to withdraw from all her planned engagements, with the singer's record label Polydor/Universal explaining: "For medical reasons independent of our will, the artist has been forced to cancel all promotional activities planned in Europe over the coming days."

What's more, Lana was set to appear at the Music Midtown festival in Atlanta later this week, but it's still to be confirmed whether she will or won't attend.

The exact nature of Lana's illness is unknown at this stage, with her record label refusing to make any further comment.

Meanwhile, the singer recently said that she doesn't "feel a responsibility" for the message in her lyrics.

Lana, 29, dismissed the idea her songs - which sometimes appear to hint at issues like abusive relationships - should be written with commercial success in mind.

"It's not meant to be popular. It's not pop music. The only thing I have to do is whatever I want, and I want to write whatever I want," she told the Sunday Times Magazine.

Get well soon Lana
