One of the two reclusive brothers behind Hollywood’s hottest film, The Matrix: Reloaded has had his business assets frozen by a judge amid reports that he left his wife of 10 years for a bondage mistress.
Larry Wachowski’s wife, Thea Bloom told a judge in court papers: “Larry has been extremely dishonest with me in our personal life and I believe he is hiding information from me regarding our financial affairs.”
She alleged that millions of dollars he earned were unaccounted for. She said Wachowski had told her that he had been paid large amounts of money but also told her “that there was hardly any left”.
Larry Wachowski and his brother Andy are the writers, directors and two of the executive producers of the Matrix films.
According to the documents filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, Larry and Thea married in 1993, at first living in a modest Chicago apartment, then, after the success of The Matrix, moving into a £1.5m (€2.08m) home near the beach in Venice, California, in 2000.
They separated in July 2002 “based on very intimate circumstances, concerning which I do not elaborate at this time for reasons of his personal privacy,” she said in her statement.
Published reports have linked Wachowski with a dominatrix named Mistress Ilsa.
Judge Rolf Treu issued an order banning the brothers’ production company, Anarchos, from making any payments to Larry “pending further order of the Court.”
