Jonathan Rhys Meyers responds to those drinking photos

Last week, Jonathan Rhys Meyers sparked concern after he was pictured looking unrecognisable and drinking straight from a bottle of vodka on the streets of London.

Today, the Cork native - who has no social media presence - took to his fiancee Mara Lane's Instagram account to break his silence and apologise for his behaviour.

“Mara and I are thankful for your support and kindness during this time," he wrote.

“I apologise for having a minor relapse and hope that people don’t think too badly of me."

The former Tudor's star also thanked fans that had taken to Twitter to show support and express their concern for the actor's welfare.

“I am on the mend and thank well wishers and sorry for my dishevelled appearance as I was on my home from a friend’s and had not changed. I feel I made a mistake and feel quite embarrassed but this was a little blip in my recovery, otherwise I’m living a healthy life”.

Meyers has recently wrapped on Dracula and has three movies set to be released this year; Stonewall, Damascus Cover and London Town.
