I have to apologise for 'The Voice' role, says Kaiser Chiefs singer

Ricky Wilson feels like he has to "apologise" for being on 'The Voice'.

The Kaiser Chiefs front man joins the TV talent contest when it returns for its third series tonight, but he insisted fellow judges Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones and will.i.am are all on another "level of fame" to him.

He told The Sun newspaper: "When I agree to do the show I was preparing myself for people to be saying: 'Ricky who?'

"Everyone kept saying to me from day one that I shouldn't apologise for being there. But that's hard when Kylie, Will and Tom are on a different level of fame to me.

"They're a rung up ... It's hard not to feel worried about whether I'm going to get swallowed up by all that. I can't compete with them."

Despite putting himself down, Ricky has brushed shoulders with a number of high profile stars, and revealed he enjoyed many wild nights back when he embraced the rock 'n' roll lifestyle.

He added: "I've got some great stories. I taught Bono and Stella McCartney to set fire to a Pringle crisp once.

"I was sitting with them at a party and there was a lull in conversation. I didn't know what to say so I just went: 'Have you ever set a Pringle on fire?'

"I don't think they really cared."
