Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood said he watches ITV talent show X Factor to look for people to cast in musicals but was already “bored” with the current series.
He told the Sun: “The show does the hard work, then I put some of its contestants into musicals.”
However, Horwood slated this year’s X Factor, stating: “I’m a bit bored with this series. I just lose interest when there aren’t very good people, but there are too many jokes and manufactured acts.”
Acid-tongued Horwood, 49, also appeared to slight ex-Strictly presenter Sir Bruce Forsyth, saying the show is “speedier” now Tess Daly has Claudia Winkleman by her side.
“Tess has become more human. She and Claudia are like girlfriends. They’re having a great laugh. It’s less formal and I think it’s brought Tess out of herself,” he said.
Strictly recently had singer Donny Osmond as a surprise fifth judge who caused a stir when he awarded the first 10 of this year’s competition to Saturdays’ singer Frankie Bridge and her partner Kevin Clifton.
His appearance did not impress Horwood, who said: “It’s obvious a fifth judge doesn’t work. Donny talked too much and was over the top. Plus, anyone under 30 doesn’t know who Donny Osmond is.”
