The Perks of Being a Wallflower (Film4, 6.55pm)

(2012) Charlie (Logan Lerman) is devastated by the suicide of a close friend and the tragedy haunts the sensitive teenager as a new term beckons.

The lad’s father (Dylan McDermott) and mother (Kate Walsh) hope Charlie will blossom in higher education but, as usual, their boy remains on the sidelines as a silent observer to the rituals of school life.

The only person who seems to notice Charlie is English teacher Mr Anderson (Paul Rudd), who recognises a kindred spirit and supplies the youngster with a steady supply of extra-curricular reading.

During an American football match, Charlie plucks up the courage to chat to openly gay classmate Patrick (Ezra Miller).

In turn, he introduces Charlie to his free-spirited step-sister, Sam (Emma Watson), who tries to bring the newcomer out of his shell.

Great British Menu (BBC2, 7pm)

The final sees the remaining chefs at London’s historic Drapers’ Hall, tasked to serve up a menu of dishes to mark the centenary of the Women’s Institute, serving the ladies, their current chair Janice Langely, Angela Baker who helped inspire the Calendar Girls initiative, and many other guests.

The menu was chosen by judges Oliver Peyton, Prue Leith and Matthew Fort from the dishes that had been shortlisted, and to make this all-frills banquet the competitors had to secure a place on that list at least once. Last in the series.

Euro 2016 Qualifier Live (ITV, 7.15pm)

England have already secured their place in next year’s finals in France, and play their penultimate match of their Group E campaign against Estonia at Wembley Stadium.

Although some may regard this as a dead rubber, Roy Hodgson’s hosts will be eager to maintain their 100-per-cent record in the group, and the Estonians still have slim hopes of qualifying for the play-offs.

The reverse fixture 12 months ago saw England claim a narrow victory thanks to their now all-time top scorer Wayne Rooney breaking the deadlock 16 minutes from time.

Presenter Mark Pougatch is joined in the studio by Lee Dixon and Ian Wright, while commentary comes courtesy of Clive Tyldesley and Glenn Hoddle.

RWC Live: New Zealand v Tonga (TV3, 7.30pm)

Matt Cooper is joined live in studio by Keith Woods Matt Williams and Hugo Macneill as New Zealand take on Tonga.

Andre Previn at the BBC (BBC4, 8pm)

The critically acclaimed German-American pianist, conductor and composer trawls through the BBC archives to look back at some of his greatest appearances on a wide variety of television shows.

Among the chosen clips are thrilling performances of orchestral favourites by classical heavyweights Mozart and Berlioz.

But for some viewers, despite his musical talents Previn will always be remembered for his more light-hearted moments, such as his classic encounters with lovable comedians Morecambe and Wise.

Celebrity Juice (3e, 9pm)

Comedy panel show which sees Radio One DJ Fearne Cotton going up against TV presenter Holly Willoughby to see who knows the most about this week’s celebrity news.

Presiding over the proceedings is the inimitable and outrageous host Keith Lemon.

The Kennedys (BBC1, 9.30pm)

This sitcom set in the 1970s and loosely based on the formative years of its writer Emma Kennedy continues.

Here, 10-year-old tomboy Emma receives her first Valentine’s Day card and resolves to determine the identity of the sender.

Meanwhile, her mother Brenda finally gets around to opening her old post only to find her driving test is in two days’ time – and she has yet to get behind the wheel.

Needless to say, she soon writes-off husband Tony’s old car in her panic.

Katherine Parkinson, Dan Skinner and Lucy Hutchinson star.

Alan Carr: Chatty Man: SU2C Special (Ch4, 10pm)

Davina McCall, Alan Carr and Dr Christian Jessen host a special night of live TV, as a bevvy of stars show their support for for the Stand Up to Cancer campaign.

Adam Hills and co-hosts Josh Widdicome and Alex Brooker return for a one-off special of The Last Leg. That is followed by a Gogglebox: SU2C Special with some surprise celebrity guests, and an Alan Carr: Chatty Man: SU2C Special.

Tonight, the bespectacled host is joined by Great British Bake Off’s Sue Perkins and This Is England ’90 star Thomas Turgoose -Ethe latter is returning to honour his bet from an earlier show to have Alan’s name tattooed on his bottom if £5,000 can be raised for SU2C. Plus, 5 Seconds of Summer perform their new single Hey Everybody!

Rugby’s Wheelchair Challenge (TV3, 10.30pm)

Some of Ireland’s top rugby players sit into a wheelchair and experience, first-hand, the everyday experiences, frustrations and challenges of being physically disabled in Ireland.

Four rugby heroes will be asked to make their way from Dublin¹s Aviva Stadium to Limerick’s Thomond Park while confined to a wheelchair.

Irish Vice-Captain Jamie Heaslip, Munster’s full-back Felix Jones and former Ireland legends Shane Byrne and David Wallace attempt to use buses, trains and taxis – as well as pure muscle - to journey on a road less travelled.

What will happen when these elite athletes are stripped of their physical prowess and challenged to experience the sobering reality of those who live in a wheelchair every single day?

The Graham Norton Show (BBC1, 10.35pm)

Upcoming movie Suffragette centres on the struggle of the British women’s suffrage movement in the late 19th and early 20th century.

Two of its stars - Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep – join the host to discuss their roles and the importance of the film’s subject matter.

However, the duo will no doubt also enjoy a little light-hearted banter alongside fellow guest Nicole Kidman, who is currently garnering much praise for her West End portrayal of scientist Rosalind Franklin in Photograph 13.

Indie Music at the BBC (BBC4, 11pm)

Another trawl through the BBC music archives, this time revisiting some of the classic hits of the indie music genre, which took the world by storm in the 1980s through to the early ’90s.

The UK led the way as this new genre was born, and the influence of the leading groups of the day can still be felt, particularly in the music of such acts as the Strokes and the White Stripes.

Performers featured on the programme include Joy Division, Depeche Mode, the Smiths, Cocteau Twins and Primal Scream.

Lay the Favorite (BBC1, 11.55pm)

(2012) Beth Raymer (Rebecca Hall) hails from Tallahassee and ekes out an unfulfilling living by shedding her clothes for beer-swilling punters in the privacy of their trailer parks. “I want to move to Las Vegas and be a cocktail waitress!” Beth excitedly informs her father.

So she packs up her belongings and heads to the Nevada desert where bookmaker Dink Heimowitz (Bruce Willis) introduces her to the thrills of illegal gambling.

As Dink gravitates towards his flirty protegee, their close working relationship generates friction with his vampy wife, Tulip.

When the tension becomes unbearable, Beth is compelled to seek alternative employment with rival Rosie.

Thankfully, a romance with kind-hearted and trusting journalist Jeremy drags Beth back from the brink of crushing defeat.
