Elton John announces Cork date

Elton John and his band have confirmed that they will play Cork in 2017.

The Tiny Dancer singer will bring his unforgettable live show back to Live At The Marquee June 20.

Elton’s return to Cork will make him the only International Artist to have played the Marquee series four times and will be his 23rd concert appearance in Ireland since first playing the National Stadium in Dublin in 1979.

Speaking in a statement the 69-year-old said: “The simple truth is I want to spend more time with my family, and I am only too aware of just how precious the time ahead is.

“My sons are growing up so quickly; their early years are just flying by and I want to be there with them. So these concerts will give me the chance to thank the fans who have been so faithful to me over these many decades.

“My appearance at Live at the Marquee in June will be my 4th show at that wonderful festival since July 2007. It is always a joy to play in Cork and my band and I are looking forward to enjoying what are always some of the greatest audiences on the tour.”

Elton is the first act to be announced for next year’s Marquee madness, talk about raising the bar!

Tickets go on sale Monday 7 November at 9.00am from all usual Ticketmaster outlets.
