Ellen DeGeneres plans to turn "nasty" when Simon Cowell leaves 'American Idol'.
The talk show host - who replaced Paula Abdul on the judging panel of the US talent show - thinks she could fill the music mogul's shoes as the "mean" member of the panel when he leaves after the present series.
She said: "It's important to see how I fall into this. If I turn out to be really nasty and mean - we don't need anybody nasty and mean - but maybe I'll turn out to be that person."
Ellen recorded her first episode of the show last month, and it aired on US television yesterday.
Speaking about tensions between her co-stars, she joked: "We all love each other like crazy!
"It's interesting to get behind the curtain of Oz, it's a big show and there's a lot of things going on."
The outspoken judge has also spoken out against rumours as to who will join them on the panel when Simon leaves to launch a US version of 'The X Factor'.
She added: "Nobody's in a hurry to do anything, it hasn't gone out to anyone, no-one has been approached yet - these are all just rumours. It would be fine it were just the three of us."
