Choir of people affected by homelessness added to Electric Picnic bill
A 60 strong-choir of people affected by homelessness has been added to the bill for this year's Electric Picnic.
The High Hopes Choir was the subject of a three-part RTÉ documentary based on the lives of people touched by homelessness, (whether still homeless, working with homelessness, or are now not homeless anymore) from Dublin and Waterford.
The two choirs, created by former principal conductor of the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, David Brophy, will perform as one at the recently-revamped Trailer Park stage.
They are set to perform a mix of favourites from Coldplay, Snow Patrol, Cyndi Lauper and Kodaline to a few oldies thrown in such as Bill Withers’ Lean On Me and Jackie Wilson’s Higher and Higher.
The music and arts festival appreciates the appeal of a good choir – the Sunday afternoon performance by the Dublin Gospel Choir is now an annual fixture and regularly attracts a substantial crowd.
Electric Pinic takes place at Stradbally Hall, Co Laois from Friday September 4 to Sunday September 6.
