Cate gets inked to celebrate Oscar win

Cate Blanchett celebrated her Oscar win with a new tattoo.

The 44-year-old star - who picked up the Best Actress prize at Sunday's Academy Awards for her role in 'Blue Jasmine' - was seen visiting Shamrock Social Club with husband Andrew Upton and their friends Amy Adams and her fiancé Darren LeGallo on Monday.

And, according to the New York Post newspaper, Cate was seen leaving the tattoo parlour - which has previously inked stars including Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga and Harry Styles - with a black bandage on her wrist, while Darren was sporting a similar dressing on top of his forearm. It is unclear what designs they had administered.

A staff member at Shamrock Social Club, where inker Mark Mahoney is described as the 'go-to' tatt man for LA slebs - declined to comment on the high-profile visit.

However, the posted on their twitter account: "Congrats to our friends @JaredLeto and #CateBlanchett for your #Oscar wins! (sic)"

It is believed this isn't the first time Cate - who has sons Dashiell, 12, Roman, nine, and Ignatius, five, with Andrew - has had a tattoo.

A photograph from an unknown date of her modelling a Dior Homme suit and slightly lifting her shirt showed a hint of artwork.

And when once asked if she had tattoos, she simply replied: "Oh, there you go."
