Captain Philips Premiere, movie review and Tom Hanks' top moments

The European premiere of Captain Phillips is set to take place tonight.

Thirty towns and cities across the UK and Ireland will simultaneously screen the European premiere of Captain Phillips.;

It will coincide and have a live satellite link to the opening night of the 57th BFI London Film Festival.

'Captain Philips' is based on the true story of Captain Richard Philips whose American cargo ship was hijacked by Somali pirates.

Critics have hailed the movie for its realism.

One viewer noted, "A lot of movies deliver extreme action and violence, then the affected characters just walk away like nothing happened

"Not this movie. You can really feel the emotion and mental stress that real people would be in, in that situation."

It's director Paul Greengrass seems to have hit the nail on the head with this one as the film itself has been rated well by critics.

IMDb awarded it 7.1/10 and Rotten Tomatoes gave it 89%.

Meanwhile Tom Hanks is keeping the method to his emotional acting a secret.

He quipped: "That's a secret. I'm not going to give that up. You go to a press conference with the people that run Coca Cola and ask for their secret formula, I'm sure they'd hand it right over to you!

"I like to consider myself some right of creative artist and professional. My job is to get there when the moment comes on the day."

The 57-year-old star was speaking at a press conference ahead of the European premiere of 'Captain Phillips' in London's Leicester Square tonight. The big event will kick off the 57th annual BFI London Film Festival.

Speaking about the movie Hanks recalled: "The worst [moment] was actually on the lifeboat. That was a truly horrendous experience. The first day we started shooting, Tom was in there with the four guys playing the pirates and Barry Ackroyd, the [director of photography] and focus puller, and [assistant director] Chris Carreras. I was in a little boat next door with a walkie talkie and I said to Chris, 'What's going on?' He said, 'Focus puller's not looking so good.' I said, 'I don't care, just shoot.' And he said, 'Focus puller's just thrown up all over Tom.' "

While we are talking about Tom Hanks here are some of our favourite Tom Hanks movie moments:

Cast Away - and his acting scenes with Wilson the ball.

The Green Mile

"They usually call death row the Last Mile, but we called ours the Green Mile, because the floor was the colour of faded limes. We had the electric chair then. Old Sparky, we called it."

Forest Gump - 'Run Forest Run!"

"Life is like a box of chocolates you never know what you're gonna get."

Toy Story - Tom Hanks is the voice and living image of 'Woody' the cowboy.

BIG - The piano scene, we'll say no more.

Sleepless in Seattle - Often confused with 'You've got mail'.
