Brent back for one-off 'The Office' edition

Ricky Gervais is to bring back David Brent for a one-off Comic Relief edition of The Office.

Viewers will see the character – last seen nearly a decade ago in a 2003 Christmas special – return as a wannabe music mogul.

The delusional office boss, famous for his “fact” catchphrase and crazy dance moves, will be seen attempting to break urban act Dom Johnson, in The Office Revisited.

Gervais famously tried to have his own pop career in the early 1980s and had a brief stint as a real-life music manager when he was involved with Suede in their early days.

In the new episode, Brent is seen selling cleaning products to finance his music business dreams.

Gervais said: “I thought it was time to revisit my most famous comedy creation to find out what he’s been up to for the last decade and most importantly what he’s up to now.

“He is passing on his wisdom to younger would-be rock stars now and is living vicariously through a young performer, Dom Johnson. Well, really he is trying to worm his way back into rock and roll.”

The Office Revisited, made as part of BBC Comic Relief, will be screened on March 15.
