Boomtown Rats, Villagers and Le Galaxie among 21 acts added to Electric Picnic bill

Electric Picnic organisers have today confirmed that a further 21 acts have been added to the line-up.

Festival-goers will get a chance to enjoy timeless hits like ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’ and ‘Rat Trap’ from recently-reformed The Boomtown Rats, who head the roster of newly-announced artists.

Two-time Mercury Music Award nominees Villagers, headed by Dubliner Conor O’Brien, will cap a tour of sell-out shows across Ireland and Europe with a welcome appearance in Stradbally.

There is a distinctly Irish flavour to the roster of latest additions to the line-up, which also includes Le Galaxie, Dublin Gospel Choir, Jape, Mano Le Tough, Little Hours, The Lost Brothers and Bry.

International acts such as Parquet Courts, The Staves, Ms Mr, Shamir, Son Lux, Girlpool, Thomston, Here We Go Magic, Declan McKenna, Tom Misch, Lengend and Yurodny Ensemble.

They'll join headline acts already announced like Blur, Florence and the Machine, The Manic Street Preachers, Sam Smith and Underworld.

More acts are set to be announced when stages including Body & Soul, Other Voices, Comedy, Mindfield, Jerry Fish Electric Sideshow, Red Bull Music Academy, Heineken Sound Atlas, Salty Dog and Trailerpark confirm their final line-ups.

There has been a cancellation, however. Jessie Ware had to cancel her performance “due to scheduling issues”.

She said that she is very disappointed hopes to be back in Ireland in the near future.

Tickets for the festival, which takes place in the grounds Stradbally Hall from Friday September 4 to Sunday September 6 are completely sold out.
