'An Emmy! An Emmy!': 50 ways to Kill Your Mammy has been nominated for an Emmy

Dubliner Baz Ashmawy and his show 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy has been nominated for an International Emmy Award.

The hit reality series - which follows Baz and his hilarious mum Nancy on their crazy adventures around the world - is up for the award for Best Non-Scripted Entertainment Show.

Speaking on The Anton Savage Show this morning, Baz said he was “shocked” as “in the states there was a lot of backlash in the beginning because I don’t they have the same understanding of sarcasm or irony that we have.

“They thought I was actually trying to kill my mother”.

He then went on to say that Nancy is very excited about the awards although it took a while for him to explain the concept to her.

“I had a very funny conversation on the phone with my mum last night, ‘An Emmy! An Emmy! It’s called an Emmy!’” he laughed.

This year's International Emmys take place on November 2 at the Hilton New York Hotel and the daring duo are travelling with all expenses paid.

We don’t know about you, but we can’t wait to see Nancy hit the red carpet.

The first series of 50 Ways To Kill Your Mammy has been broadcast in 100 territories and it has become Sky Vision’s most successful factual entertainment show ever.

Meanwhile, the show was also nominated in the Best Entertainment Show category in this year’s IFTA TV Awards, which take place in Dublin later this month.
