It follows the announcement this morning, shortly after they went on sale at 9am, that the country music star would play a third night at Croke Park on July 27.

Hundreds of people queued in towns and cities across Ireland in the hope of securing tickets, some since the weekend.

There were virtual queues too, with people waiting up to an hour to secure tickets.

The country star's much-anticipated concerts are his first in Ireland in more than 17 years.

One fan in Dublin's Stephen's Green said it was one of his two life's ambitions to go to a Garth Brooks concert (the other was to visit Egypt). "One of (those goals) is fulfilled now. YESS!!!"

"I cried so hard (when I got my ticket)," said another. It feels like when people have babies and stuff, that overwhelming happiness."
