After Dolly, comes Diana for Glastonbury

Diana Ross is in talks to perform at Glastonbury next year.

The 70-year-old singer has entered negotiations about playing in the Sunday afternoon legends slot on the Pyramid Stage at the musical festival at Worthy Farm in Somerset, south west England, as organisers attempt to do one better than Dolly Parton's impressive performance at this year's event.

A music insider told The Sun newspaper: “Glastonbury bosses were thinking it was going to be impossible to top Dolly. But now it looks like they will get Diana Ross, which will be incredible.

“It won’t be cheap but she’s worth every penny. She still tours around the world and puts on a fantastic show.”

Should Diana sign up for the festival then she looks to be able to count on Chic star Nile Rodgers' support as he believes she will be a big hit on the Somerset stage.

He added to the publication: “Diana is one of my greatest friends and she is an incredible performer. I know she’d love to feel the vibe and the love from any festival audience.”

Motown star Diana would follow in the footsteps of other music legends including Shirley Bassey, Johnny Cash, Sir Tom Jones and Kenny Rogers, who performed at the event in 2013.

Diana might get a bit of practice in ahead of Glastonbury as she is believed to be performing at her son Evan Ross' wedding to Ashlee Simpson later this month.

The nuptials are set to take place at Diana's Los Angeles mansion, which she has been renovating ahead of the big day.
