23 new acts added to Electric Picnic line-up
Organisers of the Electric Picnic have added 23 new acts to the bill of the three-day arts and music festival.
There is a distinctly local feel to the new additions, with acts like James Vincent McMorrow and Hozier leading the way.
The rudely-named but fantastic-sounding Sh*t Robot made a big breakthrough with 'We (sure) Got A Love' and the Belfast native will be stopping by before a massive tour of the US, Asia and Europe.
Another Irish act not to be missed is the Trinity Orchestra, who will return this year for their third Picnic performance, with score sheets set to the sounds of Queen, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros and Pink Floyd. Revellers have been unanimous in their praise of their performances and this year we can look forward to more of the same.
Similarly, Picnic regulars The Dublin Gospel Choir will provide a soothing change of pace on Sunday morning before a return to the thumping rock and dance beats.
Cathy Davey, The Strypes, Walking on Cars, Le Galexie, Nightbox, BP Fallon and The Whereabouts round out the impressive roster of home-grown acts set to make the trip to Stradbally this year.
The 1975, SBTRKT, Bombay Bicycle Club, Wild Beasts, Asgeir, Nick Mulvey, Sampha and Seinabo Sey add an international flavour to proceedings.
The Electric Picnic festival music and arts festival takes place from August 29-31, with Portishead, Beck and Outkast set to headline.
Weekend tickets are still available from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide. Sunday day tickets, family camping and campervan tickets are now sold out.
