Unions meet HSE to discuss recruitment freeze concerns

Unions representing staff in the health service are meeting the HSE today to discuss concerns about a new recruitment freeze.

The ban on hiring new employees was announced last week in a bid to contain overspending.

Unions, however, want some exceptions to the rule to ensure critical services are not affected.

Speaking ahead of today's meeting, Liam Doran of the Irish Nurses Organisation accused the HSE or poor management by imposing the ban overnight.
