Swansea duo cautioned
20/04/2006 - 19:42:36Swansea pair Lee Trundle and Alan Tate have both received police cautions for public order offences following their post-match celebrations after they claimed the Football League Trophy earlier this month at the Millennium Stadium.
Trundle scored the opening goal as the Swans beat Carlisle 2-1 but after the victory he donned a tee-shirt with a cartoon of a man urinating on a Cardiff number-nine shirt and carried a Welsh flag bearing an offensive message.
The flag, which Tate also held aloft, was handed in to police, who launched a full investigation after a number of complaints were immediately received.
A statement from South Wales Police read: “Following an incident at the conclusion of the Football League Trophy at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Sunday, April 2, a 23-year-old man and a 29-year-old man have today received police cautions for public order offences.”
The Football Association of Wales could impose lengthy bans after hitting the pair with disrepute charges.
