Vijay Singh carded a seven-under-par 65 to hold a two-stroke lead over John Daly after the third round of the Buick Open.

Tiger Woods is tied for third, three shots off the pace.

Singh, who has 10 top-10 finishes – including three victories – in 20 events this year, is at 18-under 198.

He played near perfect golf in the third round, recording seven birdies without a bogey.

Daly, who has a win and four top-10 finishes in 14 tournaments in 2004, had a scorching front nine that featured five birdies and a bogey. He added a birdie at the 10th and capped his 66 by draining a five-footer at the last.

Woods also had a 66, carding six birdies without a bogey.

He has just one win in 13 events this year but has managed nine top-10 finishes.

Defending champion Jim Furyk is tied for sixth at 13-under 203 after a 70. He shared the second-round lead with Singh and Billy Andrade.

Andrade fell into a tie for 11th at 10-under 206 after a 73.
