Redknapp puts faith in playmaker
17/03/2006 - 11:49:59Harry Redknapp will give Argentinian playmaker Andres D’Alessandro a key role in Portsmouth’s bid to close the gap on relegation rivals West Brom and Birmingham.
D’Alessandro will be licence to roam at Upton Park behind a front pairing of Lomana LuaLua and Svetoslav Todorov, who is likely to be given the nod over Zimbabwean striker Benjani Mwaruwari.
Captain Gary O’Neil has overcome an ankle injury to continue in midfield with Sean Davis and Pedro Mendes.
The only change in defence could see the return of Noe Pamarot after a hamstring injury at the expense of Danish right-back Brian Priske.
Provisional squad: Kiely, Priske, O’Brien, Primus, Taylor, O’Neil, Davis, Mendes, D’Alessandro, Todorov, Lualua, Ashdown, Pamarot, Routledge, Koroman, Benjani, Karadas, Songo’o, Mbesuma.
