Rate of swine flu halves in the past week
31/12/2009 - 14:50:20The rate of swine flu has halved since last week with 149 people being treated in hospital, 10 of those in intensive care.
It now stands at 21%, down from 42% the previous week.
There are 1,124 cases of the illness in Ireland.
The HSE has said while there has been a dramatic decrease in the rate of swine flu, concerns are being raised about the high rates of infection in children under five.
Parents are again being advised to have their children vaccinated as soon as possible.
