PDs refuse to reject coalition with Fine Gael

The Progressive Democrats have refused to rule out a coalition with Fine Gael after the next general election.

PDs president Tom Parlon has said there was scope for compromise between the parties, although FG leader Enda Kenny has stated that the PDs will be "completely irrelevant" to the formation of any future coalition.

Fine Gael and Labour are committed to entering into government together if they receive enough votes, but they could need the support of either the PDs or the Greens.

Despite Enda Kenny's views on the matter, PDs president Tom Parlon says he could envisage entering coalition with Fine Gael

"I would certainly see a difficulty compromising between what is Labour policy and what is PD policy but from what I see of Fine Gael policy…there certainly is scope for compromising there," said Mr Parlon.
