Nakamura sets sights on treble
20/12/2005 - 14:47:40Celtic star Shunsuke Nakamura has set his sights on the Treble this season.
The Japanese international playmaker has been a big hit since joining them from Italian club Reggina in the summer.
But he is desperate to cap his first season in Scotland with the championship and two cups.
“The aim is to win the title, if we can, and as many cups as possible,” he stated.
“That was my aim for coming to Celtic and it is something that I am determined to achieve.”
The 27-year-old is enjoying himself in a new country and he has thanked the knowledgeable fans for helping him to adapt.
He continued: “The football environment here is very, very good. The Celtic supporters know their football.
“They watch games and notice even the smallest piece of play and if it’s good, they applaud.
“It’s really nice for players to hear that.”
Despite having spent three years with Reggina, this will be Nakamura’s first Christmas away from home.
It will be the first time he has had to work over the new year, with a game at Tynecastle on January 1 against Hearts.
Nakamura told the club website, www.celticfc.co.uk: “As the season goes on, you can see the changes.
“Even in training we are trying to get the ball on the ground and play that way.
“That’s the style that I like to play the game and that’s the way that I believe you can win games.”
