Murphy Cup no lure for Fermanagh duo
13/07/2005 - 11:47:23Fermanagh will be without regular forwards Ryan Keenan and Mark Little for Saturday's first round Tommy Murphy Cup clash with Carlow.
The pair, who played a full part in the Ernesiders' rise to the All-Ireland semi-finals last year, have flown to the US, leaving Fermanagh boss Charlie Mulgrew with a hunt for replacements.
Keenan and Little are to play football Stateside for the remainder of the summer, with the lure of the second-tier Murphy Cup proving no match.
Westmeath's footballing brothers Dennis and David Glennon are also due in America in the coming weeks, with the 2004 Leinster champions match-less for the rest of the summer.
Meanwhile, Cavan have decided not to appeal Paul Brady's 12-week suspension which arose from his sending-off during their Ulster SFC semi-final against Tyrone.
World handball champion Brady was dismissed for an apparent stamp on Conor Gormley, but the defender had claimed it was accidental as he had cramp.
Stand-in Cavan boss Martin McElkennon, who will be without the services of Keith Fannin, Colm Hannon and John Tierney for Sunday's All-Ireland qualifier against Meath, was looking into the possibility of challenging Brady's ban as the GAA have allowed the Mullahoran man to play in the impending All-Ireland 60x30 handball final.
