The Minister for Foreign Affairs has said that no effort will be spared in securing the release of kidnapped Irish priest Father Michael Sinnott.

It follows the emergence of a video of Father Sinnott, in which he says his captors are demanding a €1.4m ransom.

Micháel Martin has confirmed he's spoken the Sinnott family who are relieved to hear that there is further evidence that the 79 year old is alive.

Fears are growing for his health, as he has a heart condition and does not have access to all of his medicines.

Columban Missionary and friend of Father Sinnott, Father Pat Rawley says it's still unclear who's holding him.
