Lohan's dad pleads not guilty
14/04/2005 - 15:34:48Lindsay Lohan's father Michael has pleaded not guilty to an upgraded felony charge in connection with a fiery car crash on Long Island, New York.
Michael pleaded not guilty in a New York courtroom on Tuesday in answer to charges stemming from the February 19 incident. Michael, 44, was initially charged with a misdemeanour.
The violation was upgraded to aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle after investigators determined that he had been driving with a suspended or revoked licence from a prior conviction of driving under the influence and had a blood alcohol limit nearly double the legal limit, says prosecutor Joy Watson.
Defence lawyer Rory Calhoun told reporters outside the courtroom that Michael is trying to "straighten out his life" and is enrolled in an alcohol abuse program at the Nassau County jail.
His next court date is set for April 26.
