Lenihan: Budget will not target lower paid
05/11/2009 - 10:01:32Finance Minister Brian Lenihan is today dismissing suggestions the Government should increase the tax burden on the lower paid in December's budget.
Brian Lenihan says cutting the social welfare budget has to be the priority so that there is an incentive for people to work.
The Government's Budget strategy has come under fire today from former Taoiseach Garrett Fitzgearld.
However, speaking in Dublin this morning, the Finance Minister Brian Lenihan said taxing our way out of this recession simply will not work.
