KFC follows healthy food trend
27/04/2004 - 15:32:30Fried chicken giant KFC followed in the tracks of rival fast food chains today, unveiling a new menu including salads and less fatty snacks.
After 50 years of selling fried chicken, KFC is also offering less greasy oven roasted chicken strips in wraps.
Also coming to the fast food outlets are salads and side dishes like green beans with peppers.
The move follows a recent trend among fast food chains to make their snacks more healthy.
With a growing number of people on diets, fast food chains have had a careful eye on profit margins.
There have also been some highly-publicised, but unsuccessful, court actions taken against McDonald’s by people who claimed the fast food giant was responsible for causing them ill health.
Scott Bergren, marketing manager for KFC, said: “Our food evolution is a steady part of a bigger picture. Our goal is to redefine our brand and make it more relevant.”
