Kenny: Elections will be 'watershed'

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny said today that the local, European and by-elections on June 5 will represent a 'watershed' in Irish politics.

Speaking at the launch of his party's by-election campaign in Dublin Mr Kenny said the people want change and they want Fianna Fáil out of office.

Mr Kenny said the will of the people cannot be ignored.

Meanwhile, he also reiterated denials that any talks have taken place with former Tánaiste Michael McDowell.

There has been speculation that Mr McDowell is considering running for Fine Gael in the next general election.

But Mr Kenny says he wants to put an end to that speculation.
