Kenny calls for resignation of Church leaders
27/11/2009 - 14:37:17The Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny is calling for the resignation of senior Church figures named in the Murphy report as having helped to cover-up clerical child abuse.
Mr Kenny said if the Church wants to retain the moral authority to lead, those implicated in the abuse scandal cannot contine in their positions.
The report into abuse in the Dublin Archdiocese highlights a widespread cover-up of clerical sex abuse involving senior Church figures, the State and gardaí.
Mr Kenny said those involved in the cover-up have to go.
