Keniry hoping for riding return

Barry Keniry is keeping his fingers crossed he will be given the all-clear to return to race riding after an X-ray on Wednesday.

The jockey broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg after suffering a fall at Kelso last October, but can see some light at the end of the tunnel having ridden out for the last three weeks.

“I’m going for an X-ray on Wednesday and hopefully I should pass that and then I could be back riding in a couple of weeks,” said Keniry.

“The leg still isn’t in shape yet but I went to see Jonathan Lavelle, who is an orthopaedic surgeon and Emma Lavelle’s brother, and he said I should start riding out again three weeks ago.

“Everything has gone well so hopefully I can pass the X-ray on Wednesday and get back, as it seems a long time since October.”
