Leicester will face a Saturday evening showdown with Leinster in this season’s Heineken Cup quarter-finals.

Tournament organisers have announced the quarter-final dates and kick-off times, which see Biarritz host Munster on Sunday, April 3, kick-off 3pm Irish Time.

Tigers face a trip to Dublin on Saturday, April 2 (5.15pm kick-off), with Newcastle’s Paris clash against French champions Stade Francais set for 3pm (Irish Time) earlier that afternoon.

Northampton’s appointment with Toulouse has been confirmed for Friday, April 1 at 7.30pm Irish Time.

“You can’t win it if you are not in it, and we are still there,” said Leicester coach John Wells, after the Tigers clinched one of two best runners-up spots, securing a clash against top seeds Leinster.

“There are three good English clubs there, there are three good French clubs and two good Irish teams, and while the quarter-finals in the past have always favoured the home side to go through, it is still anybody’s game.

“Teams will win quarter-finals away from home – I just hope we are one of them.”

As for the Leinster challenge, Wells added: “I had a look at their results at home, and there is no doubt that they are a good side that score a lot of points at home.

“They turned Bath over quite easily, they put 90 points past Bourgoin and more than 50 on Treviso. They are also doing quite well in the Celtic League.”
