Heigl: 'I've always been outspoken'

Actress Katherine Heigl has played down her outspoken reputation after she was recently criticised for labelling her smash hit movie 'Knocked Up' "sexist".

The film, in which the 29-year-old plays a TV journalist who becomes pregnant after a one-night stand with Seth Rogen's unemployed slob, was a huge success last year and helped Heigl's earnings jump from $300,000 (€204,185) to $6m (€4m) per picture.

But Heigl made headlines last month, when she claimed 'Knocked Up' is "a little sexist… It was hard for me to love the movie."

However, the 29-year-old, who quickly released a statement defending her comments, insists she has always spoken her mind and that her remarks weren't controversial anyway.

She says: "The press or the media has decided that I'm outspoken, and I guess that's my angle or something?

"I have been this way for the last five to seven years when I started saying, 'You know, screw it, I'm not going to pussyfoot around issues anymore.'

"I kind of say what I think. And if I feel passionately about something I will be honest about it, and I don't think there's anything wrong with that."

Regarding her critical remarks about 'Knocked Up', Heigl adds, "It wasn't that interesting, and it wasn't that outrageous."
