'Greater effort needed to reduce unnecessary waste'
27/06/2006 - 12:05:51The Government's Race Against Waste campaign is calling for greater effort from businesses and households to reduce the amount of waste they produce.
The campaign says that, while recycling rates are increasing rapidly in Ireland, so too is the level of waste.
A recent study conducted for the Environmental Protection Agency found that waste reduction is not regarded as a priority for Irish householders.
Race Against Waste is hoping to change this attitude so the success of the recycling boom can be the foundation of a reduction in the amount of rubbish being generated unnecessarily.
