Members of the Garda Representative Association have voted to accept the terms offered in the Public Service Agreement 2010 - 2014.

The Central Executive Committee of the GRA recommended acceptance of the deal and 75% voted in favour of it with 25% against.

GRA General Secretary PJ Stone said: "We are living in uncertain times. The government is attempting to reassure Ireland the worst is over and is attempting to balance the books by cutting spending.

"Our duty is to ensure our members are not subjected to further pay cuts, having already suffered five pay cuts - typically taking home €5,000 less this year than in 2008."

The proposed reforms include the development of a new roster system, although it is already agreed that any change would form a pilot scheme and further ballot of members.
