Govt: 'No plans to implement adopt-a-road schemes'
13/01/2007 - 10:01:51The Department of the Environment says it has no plans to implement adopt-a-road schemes to eliminate illegal roadside dumping.
Responding to calls from the Opposition, the Department said that local authorities have sufficient resources to tackle the problem.
But Fine Gael says these programmes, whereby businesses sponsor sections of road and pay for them to be cleaned and kept litter free, are the only solution.
