Sides remain scoreless after first half in Madrid

Chances were at a premium for both sides as Chelsea and Atletico Madrid played out a goalless first half in tonight’s Group D clash at the Vicente Calderon stadium.
Former Arsenal winger Jose Antonio Reyes had one of the best efforts for the hosts, with his curling 25-yard effort bringing a one-handed save out of Petr Cech.
For Chelsea, who would guarantee themselves a spot in the last 16 with a win tonight, Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou and Frank Lampard all tried their luck but could not find the target.
