Dry weather to see flooding subside

It’s hoped flooding in the Midlands and West of the country will begin to subside in the coming days, as a spell of dry weather settles across Ireland.

In contrast with the record rainfall of the past few days, dry weather is forecasted for the next week.

Many areas around the country were completely under water during the week, and a number of homes had to be evacuated.

Vincent O’Shea from Met Eireann said the change in the weather should help the situation.

"We'll have several days of mainly dry weather, and that should allow the ground to dry out and the rivers to subside a lot," he said.
