Cowen promises cross-border investment in North-West
29/07/2010 - 14:01:12The Taoiseach Brian Cowen has said a new motorway linking Belfast and Dublin is a ''powerful symbol of what we can achieve when we work together".
The 12 kilometre final stretch of road - which cost more than £150m (€179m) - cuts out the final bottleneck around Newry.
It now means someone could drive from Cork to Belfast via Dublin on continuous motorway in about four hours.
Mr Cowen said the next big cross-border infrastructure investment will be the North-Western part of the country.
