Bruton: Hand Anglo over to creditors

20/03/2010 - 13:07:52

The deputy leader of Fine Gael has said Anglo Irish Bank should be "handed over" to its creditors in October when the guarantee scheme expires so that they can "recover what they can".

Richard Bruton told his party's national conference in Killarney that the Government's plan was to pump €20bn - or €12,500 for every family - into a failed institution.

He also said Fine Gael would oppose the 2011 budget which is expected to cut investment and hike taxes, whereas Fine Gael would slash more from the cost of running Government.
