Athone squad must 'stand up and be counted'

Athlone Town boss Stephen Kelly has called on his squad to “stand up and be counted” over the next few games in an attempt to get back up the table, despite injury troubles.

“Graeme O'Keeffe and John Flanagan both have the flu and missed training this week and we'll have to assess their fitness before the squad is announced. Eric Molloy pulled a hamstring in training and will have to rest for a week or so,” Kelly said.

"We have a few very tough games over the next weeks and a few good results are needed to lift the spirits of all involved in the club. That is the aim.

“The return of Danny O Leary was a few weeks ahead of schedule and that was one of the few positives in Kildare. The first start for Gavin Doyle was another.”
