Adams denies DUP veto deal

Gerry Adams has denied SDLP claims that Sinn Féin has agreed to give the DUP a veto over who nationalist parties nominate to ministerial positions if power-sharing returns.

SDLP spokesmen have repeatedly claimed that the DUP and Sinn Féin have reached an agreement which would see the DUP veto individual ministers.

Gerry Adams said no such deal has been made, and criticised the SDLP, who he described as “hurlers on the ditch, and hurlers who can’t hurl", for making the claims.

However, he did say that he was hopeful that some kind of deal would be made during talks this week.
