Sergei Bubka will bring the curtain down on his illustrious career at a meeting in his Ukrainian hometown of Donetsk, according to his secretary.
Bubka, the 1988 Olympic champion and world record holder, has invited some of the world's top pole vaulters to his annual vault competition.
"I was overjoyed at this invitation. I'm honored to be at Sergei's final meet," said German Michael Stolle, who was fourth at last year's Olympics.
According to Stolle, 1992 Olympic champion and Sydney bronze medalist Maxim Tarasov and South Africa's Brits Okkerts have also received invitations to compete.
Bubka, who is considered as the greatest pole vaulter ever, said he was retiring after the Sydney Olympics.
The 37-year-old has soared over six metres 43 times in his career, breaking his own world record regularly as he became one of track's biggest names.
He holds both the indoor world record of 6.14m and the outdoor record of 6.15m.
